Where Was I?

A novel by Terry J. Aman

Every family has a secret.

Some are darker than others. And one is about to resurface in a devastating way for seminarian and sometime media consultant Paul Jemrud.

Dragged by his mother to a dreaded family gathering – his Aunt and Uncle Hjeldahl’s silver wedding anniversary in the Midwestern hinterlands – he can’t shake the impression that he’s somehow been there before, though he knows this is impossible. Fortunately, his new girlfriend, Jan, decided to join him on the journey so he’s not facing it alone.

Between troubling dreams and a revealing conversation with his mother, he realizes he indeed was present for the Hjeldahls wedding – when he was only 3 years old – the same weekend, in fact, as his father’s grisly murder.

Meanwhile, as his own nightmares worsen amidst family squabbles and celebrations, he realizes that the past is about to resurface in a terrifying way for himself and more disturbingly, for Jan.

Book One details the events leading up to the Hjeldahls’ 25th anniversary. Book Two dives back into the murky past and the benighted wedding itself. Book Three rejoins events in the present and Paul and Jan’s horrifying ordeal.

To avoid giving much away, the excerpt for Book Three is very brief. Enjoy!
