When the Cat’s Away …
Part 2!
As of Oct. 1, we are off book for at least Act 1, which had all the grace that first night off book usually has. The line-seeking and blocking carried forward in a more or less acceptable way and that’s generally a good thing.
One thing that got really clear really fast is that
once the scripts were out of our hands, there was a lot more focus and a lot
less downtime. Even so, most of the interaction in a comedy is comic, so fun
was being had all the same.
Here’s some scenes from tonight’s efforts. Enjoy!

Sisters Ethel
and Mildred …

Sharing a laugh …

… although one
has a secret …

… as does
the other …

… seduction
stokes the
forbidden
flames of
passion …
fancy free!

Temptation?
None for me, thanks.
I’m far too sweet
and innocent.

Is that so? asks
her husband,
Humphrey,
more than a bit
unconvinced.

One thing
seems
certain …

Milly’s husband,
George, can always
be counted upon
to show up just
in time to ruin
everything.

Oh George,
what is to
be done
with you?
Ah, but that question will have to wait for the second act.
Anyway, it felt tonight like we were a company that
was about a month out from production. In that that’s exactly what we are, well
… goal achieved! ![]()
