One of the tastiest homemade cake recipes I’ve ever
managed – moist, delicious and, because there’s apples in it, completely
healthy.
Enjoy!

½ cup margarine
½ cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1 cup sour milk
2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs, beaten
2¼ cups flour
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. nutmeg
2 cups apples raw, peeled and diced
Topping:
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup sugar
½ tsp. cinnamon
½ cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together margarine and sugars. Dissolve the soda in the sour milk and add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Add eggs, and then dry ingredients. Fold apples into batter. Combine topping ingredients and set aside. Spread batter into greased and floured 9-by-13-inch cake pan. Sprinkle topping mixture over batter and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until toothpick tests clean in the center of the cake. Serves 12. Serve warm alone or with cinnamon ice cream.
