I realized I was having a lot of
problems with this eppy when I noticed my third attempt at watching it I just
kept falling asleep.
It's a perfectly serviceable eppy as eppies go. The characters have funny
lines, and I didn't realize at first that that diner scene was in fact the
morning after Fred and Gunn's first night together. The mood was so very
different from Fred and Wes' aftereffects of intimacy, but valid -- both
wanting the other to qualify the night first.
And that is, in itself, a breakdown of communication. Waiting to be the first
one to say "I had a wonderful time too" often means swallowing
something you really need to say: that is "I had a wonderful time." I
understand Fred's hesitation more than I do Gunn's, but hey, nothing important
got said because ...
Saved by the freeqin', stupid bell.
Wes. Can't bring himself to talk to Cordelia or Angel about this prophecy. And
if he did, something constructive probably would've happened. As it was, Wes
being freaked out by bad dreams doesn't completely explain his reticence.
And Cordy not having a vision about the Qor'toth at all in her absence seems
mighty suspicious.
But hey, blame those crazy, kooky Powers That Be, let's give 'em a hand!
They'll be here all week -- try the veal.
* visions of the Powers as Angelica clucking "Yes ... yes ... al goes
accordion to plan" *
Never mind. In this case, these Powers comments can hold off til
"Loyalty." They just begin here because of Cordy's ill-advised
vacation.
And hey -- as it turns out ... I did have something to say.
Cool.
