First off, whatta setta pipes on that
Benz girl, can I get an "amen"?
Poor Darla -- reconsitituted to walk the earth and they can't do anything about
her syphillis.
Y'know, she was that girl, at heart -- antipatriarchal, rebellious. The demon
had a lot to work with with Darla.
The mullet was hilarious. Some viewers (a lot of them even women) musta been
muttering, "Every production-assistant/roadie loser I meet in this
sorrybutt town."
Joss -- I just say Joss 'cause I never pay attention to that sort of thing --
as a writer I probably should -- has such a careful eye for side characters.
They tell a great part of whatever story is going on and he treats them correctly.
The lengths Angel went to save Darla far outstrip Lindsey. One wonders if his
heart's truly in it. But I think Lindsey did worship that syphilitic whore. And
who can blame him? What a phenomenal voice! Those eyes! That delicacy! That
wilting violet she becomes whenever there's a potential mark around!
Cordy's redirect was phenomenal, and she seems to be recovering from the mad
hair nicely.
From last week -- it's too bad that little trinket she stole never ends up
being anything especially powerful.
Did we learn nothing from the tea?
And again, something for the ladies -- a guy doing his own laundry.
It's a little inbred getting Dru to vamp her. But I love Dru, so any appearance
she makes is delightful.
As for the Trial itself ...
It's never been too clearly established how big the cross has to be, has it?
I'm sure most streets are configured as grids, so technically crosses. I've
never seen Angel walking any of them barefoot, but I've seen lots of vamps
fall in them -- on their hands, for example -- and they never start smoking
up.
And it seems specifically geared toward vampires (who they could argue are the
only beings likely to survive the demon). But other demons could get through
and it'd be a walk in the park for them. Whether they'd give their life to save
someone else is a puzzle, but I bet that little demon couple would, and the
rest of the trial would be a freakin' breeze for either of them.
What it did was it gave us all a really good insight as to how far Angel was
willing to go for the breathy little blonde.
Bet it woulda worked out for those two crazy kids if the trial had worked.
I'd so much more believe rehumanized
Darla carrying Angel's mystical child than Vamp Darla, though Ghost Darla was
interesting, if troubling, in that what is left of a soulless vamp to
materialize as a ghost?
Otherwise, nice eppy.
Washed the bad taste from last week
right outta my mouth.
Coda: We were once arguing over whether W&H infected her to force
her to seek vampitude. Where'd we leave that? I say she was dying when she was
vamped, so if she'd been brought back with the same level of infection, she'd
have been really, really sick all along and not really up to running around
doing all of this seduction stuff. So I think W&H did it -- infected her
after they brought her back, and allowed the case get advanced unbeknowst to
Lindsey or anyone, really -- even Darla herself. I wouldn't put it past that
Sparrow guy at all.
