The Minot Area Theatrical Society presents …

LEFT: Kirk Nybakken, left, and Angie
Caskin, right, as Tobias Gilmore and Persis Devore, plot a birthday surprise
for Tobias’ wife Marsha Gilmore, played by Christine Morse, seated, in the
Minot Area Theatrical Society’s production of Monk Ferris’ comic farce “Let’s
Murder Marsha.” I created the prop library book, Anton Dupré’s “The Creeping
Slasher.” The chair is courtesy Conlin’s Furniture and in my opinion it pulled
the whole set together. RIGHT: Graham Toler as next-door neighbor Virgil
Baxter, right, is determined to help Christine Morse as the nervous Marsha
Gilmore in any way he can, whipping up a concoction guaranteed to save the day
in the MATS production of “Let’s Murder Marsha.” Angie Caskin decorated both
the exteriors of our “ceramic whoopie cushions” – the St. Brendan’s bottles
repurposed for our poisonous flagons – as well as the little sewing kit full of
Amanda’s “yarn fuff” next to the chair, there.

Amanda Kraft
as the mischievous Bianca flirts with her boyfriend, Officer Ben Quade, played
by
Gerald
Stevens, in the MATS production of “Let’s Murder Marsha.” I was so impossibly
pleased by
how well this
show came together, particularly given how rough this scene usually ran in
rehearsal.

I may have
chosen the colors for the set but I got lots of help in achieving this look.
Here you can
see the
stenciling by Christine Morse of a motif selected by Angie Caskin. ABOVE:
Amanda Kraft
as Bianca
informs Ceecy Nucker as Lynette Thoren, Marsha’s lush of a mother, that dinner
is about
to be served.
Ceecy’s comic facial expressions and commentary kept things exciting
throughout.

Of course, she
wasn’t the only one. Persis and Tobias give Marsha a scare in
a pivotal
scene in the MATS production of Monk Ferris’ “Let’s Murder Marsha.”

All’s well
that end’s well, of course. A closing scene from the MATS production of
Monk Ferris’
“Let’s Murder Marsha,” featuring, from left, Ceecy Nucker, Angie
Caskin,
Christine Morse, Kirk Nybakken, Amanda Kraft and Gerald Stevens.
Jo Reinke’s
loan of her fireplace and bar installations really classed up the joint.

You must be
this awesome to be in this cast. From left are
Ceecy Nucker,
Angie Caskin, Graham Toler, Christine Morse,
Kirk Nybakken,
Gerald Stevens and Amanda Kraft.

The magic of
theater is the work of many magicians. Cast and crew of MATS 2010
season opener
“Let’s Murder Marsha” included back row, from left: Rachel Hillerud,
Angie Caskin,
Ceecy Nucker, the Dusty Monkey, Steven Caskin, Amanda Kraft, Les
Younger, Kirk
Nybakken, director Terry J. Aman and Eric Wittliff, and front row, from
left, Jess
Wittliff, Christine Morse, Alyssa Swiney, Gerald Stevens and Graham Toler.
Not pictured
but deeply appreciated is my assistant director Jaye Jameson.
